Cold. Formal. Perhaps a bit full of himself. But I thought that about Diana too. I'm glad I got to know them further!

Definitely cold and formal. I was leery of him. I had no reason to trust him so I didn't. Diana's initial POV didn't help any.

I had a visceral reaction to his chuckle before he actually appeared so my lizard brain kicked in and clouded my judgment a bit. Also, my taste in fictional men tends towards the project. I could tell Matthew would be a daunting one.

I definitely got the formal feel from him. But that was never a bad thing.

Matthew came off to me like the predator that he is. The first thing he did, when he met Diana, was to create a power dynamic in his favor. This guy is old school, debonair, educated, attractive, and he used all of that means to intimidate. It was clear to me from the start that he meant to control this meeting with Diana. Like any good predator, he waited and then pounced when the time was right. He wanted her caught off guard and stumbling and as Diana observed, he seemed quite accustomed to one-way conversations - dominated by him.

He was intriguing. Liking vampires in general, I was not put-off by his actions or demeanor. He was authoritative, confident --- he filled the room and was not intimidated by the other creatures milling and lurking about. GORGEOUS, obviously. Secretive, patient -- in that he carefully baited Diana into his web - he did not force her into it, until he had her "reeled in" just enough. A great hunter, yes?
