The All Souls Trilogy is a gem, and no matter how good the TV adaptation is going to be, I'll have a heartache every time a scene I love is cut out. I know TV is a different medium, so changes are expected. However, I thought it would be fun to play a "guessing game" and comment on this thread about scenes that will make it in the TV show, scenes that will likely by left out, and scenes that we think are a "must have." We can start with A Discovery of Witches.
There are three scenes I'd love to see in the first episode: - Diana's reaction during her encounter with Ashmole 782 at the Bodleian - Its magic pulled on something magic and knotted inside me. My fingers returned to the smooth leather. This time the prickling sensation felt familiar. [...] I had to sit on my hands to keep them from trying to learn more from a touch here and there. In hindsight, chapter 1 is pure genius, foreshadowing so much that will happen in the series. I love how Diana is drawn to the manuscript and is fighting against the temptation to learn more. 'It's nothing,' I thought resolutely walking out of the library. 'Are you sure?' Whispered a long ignored voice?
- A flashback with young Diana with Rebecca and Stephen (cue the fangirl tissues as I adore Stephen Proctor)
- The first encounter with Matthew, which has to happen at the real Bodleian (no other library is acceptable). Imo the Bodleian is a character in the book, just like the Bishop House, and Ashmole 782. I also hope the pacing is right. Note to BBC: if you leave the dialogue as is, I'll have absolutely no complaint
I'll stop here since I think these 3 scenes are pivotal in the first 2 chapters.
I'd love to hear other ideas.

In the first episode, I cannot wait to see the Bodleian Library in all of its grandeur. I have to agree, there is no substitution for the real institution. As a reader I was so drawn in with the muffled voices and chatter so it will be interesting to how that is portrayed. It gave such a sense of foreboding and then shortly thereafter ---> enter Matthew Clairmont:
The first appearance of Matthew in the Bodleian will be spectacular! There are so many things to look forward to in the first season - Diana's glaem while she sleeps, her sparking hands, the dinner date, dancing at Sept-Tours and so much more. Those are all happy events, but I also look forward to some counterbalance with the more sinister events that happen too.
I can't wait to hear what other have to say!

I'm at the point where I have so many pictures in my head. But the one scene I would love to see - because done right, it will be spectacular:
“I soared above the treetops, my eyes wide. They felt full of the sea, as vast as the horizon, and bright with sunlight and stars. My hair floated on the currents of air, the ends of each strand turning into tongues of flame that licked my face without burning. The tendrils caressed my cheeks with warmth as the cold air swept past. A raven swooped by me in flight, amazed at this strange new creature sharing her airspace. Matthew’s pale face was turned up to me, his eyes full of wonder. When our gazes connected, he smiled. It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. There was a surge of desire, strong and visceral, and a rush of pride that he was mine”
Of course, from the other books I have different spectacular scenes I'd love to see. From A Discovery of Witches, though...this is hands-down, my favorite. :-)

I agree with both AllSoulsAngela and Mz.Val. All those scenes must be included. Just reading about them makes me smile

I want to see the "dream sequence" in the oubliette with the ghosts and the apple tree in all its glory! Not to mention our only prolonged interaction with Rebecca.
Baldwin's speech about the KOL is a must see - it communicates so much history and so much about the honor and courage of the deClermonts.

It's so important and packs a punch. When you unravel what he says, you realize how long and how much the Knights of Lazarus (KOL) have been involved throughout history! It would make for a great flashback sequence on TV.

Hi All the scene I'd love to see when the BBC production is made is Diana, rowing down the river, Matthew running alongside her, just a shadow on the riverbank.

I am in agreement with all the above! And I have hope because it is for TV we might have it stay true to the beautiful story we love as opposed to a movie which, lets face it, would butcher the books.
I am in total agreement with the Bodleian though, it must be the real thing. No other library would suffice.
EDIT: I would like to see Diana and her witch water on the tower at Sept Tours, I'm not sure how this will be done well on television, but it was such a big point for her, both magically and in relationships, not just with Matthew, but with Ysabeau too

I hope they don't cast all young actors for people well into adulthood. I'm sure the BBC won't do that, but I have visions of the CW nightmare coming into play (everyone is beautiful, young, perfect)

Along with "random hot guy" being cast as Matthew - or actors being suggested based on a 10 year old photo taken prior to Betty Ford.

That would be so amazing to see on the screen ;-D

The hunting scenes are a must for me, an absolute must. I do not think that one can comprehend the terrible predatory nature of vampires without showing them deep in the hunt. Of course, the first one we get is at The Lodge but after that, Sept Tours gives us a good second illustration.
